KFC is trying to expand their product offerings by now adding beer in test markets. KFC is hoping to attract a new market, people who enjoy ‘fast casual’ restaurant chains with the move. I think this will also attract a second market, people who enjoy beer and fried chicken.
This is similar to the Starbucks movement to offer wine after 4 PM in select stores.
I think this has a real potential to increase sales for KFC. Similar to the concept of bar peanuts getting you to buy another beer, salty fried chicken may increase sales of beer, which would increase KFC’s overall revenue.
